About
LCP Overview
The Literacy Council of the Palouse was established in 1989, it was then called the Adult Literacy Council. The LCP currently serves Latah and Whitman counties. The Moscow/Pullman communities are predominant, however we are eager to bring more literacy opportunities to surrounding rural communities
The LCP is funded largely by community donations, and is maintained by a dedicated volunteer board and the Volunteer Coordinator. Donations are also collected and matched by Hastings in Moscow, and additional funds are always welcomed from community members, in order to help support our operational costs.
Volunteer tutors are used to provide free tutoring to people who wish to improve reading, writing, math and English as a second language skills. Learners and Tutors are from various educational, cultural and occupational backgrounds, which makes the LCP a great learning opportunity for both the tutor and the learner.
